Walkabout? Perhaps…
So I’m trying to plan my first “vacation”, instead of just making it up as I go along (which normally ends in financial ruin)…
I’ve always wanted to ride on a train, and I think I have a friend that will be gracious enough to let me scam offa them for a couple days in San Antonio (Thanks Jill!), so this is what I’ve come up with…
Fly out from HNL to LAX late on July 1st, then jump on Amtrak to arrive late on the 3rd in San Antonio. That’ll give me most of the 4th through the 7th to hang around in Texas (almost three whole days!!!).
Then, on my way back, take Amtrak to LAX early on the 8th, and fly out back to Hawaii on the 9th.
I’m hoping I can keep the travel expenses below $1,300… Which is about where it’s sitting now. I just hope the flights stay low over the next few days.
