What happens when you can carry just about any “circle of friends” with you in your pocket?
i’ve recently begun to realize that while a chatroom is an excellent way to kill time, it’s also like a personal think-tank. i hang in a web design room, and for the most part, offer little other than scathing site-reviews and pedantic quips about the current state of this bastard craft called “web design”.
there are about 10 to 15 regulars that frequent the room, and over time, i’ve come to trust some of them pretty well when it comes to design or application advice, and if I ask a question, i’ll normally get a pretty relevant answer.
now, my question is this:
If everyone had a collective they could participate in, to help them make better-informed decisions about whatever fields they would like (instead of anonymously googling up some data), would that turn out for the better, or for the worse?
and on a side note, what is it that makes knowledge intelligence? will there be an adoption of the notion of a “collective I.Q.”, based on the friends you keep in constant contact with? or, for something a little more relevant to our time, an augmented “google I.Q.”?
